Seashore Paspalum
Highly regarded for its salt tolerance, seashore paspalum is most often used on golf courses located in hot, humid coastal climates but is gaining popularity on home lawns. Previously, the only way to establish seashore paspalum was by sod, sprigs, stolons or plugs; however in 2005, the first seeded seashore paspalum, Sea Spray, became available.
Sea Spray does well at mowing heights ranging from 0.125" to 0.5" and requires minimal fertilization and less water than other grasses. Overall, its ability to stand up to major stress tolerances make it an environmentally friendly grass. Sea Spray is especially valuable for use in areas irrigated with effluent water or prone to naturally high salinity levels.
Sea Spray
Developed by Pure-Seed Testing, Inc. in cooperation with the University of Georgia, Sea Spray is the first release of an improved, seeded seashore paspalum. An extremely salt tolerant turfgrass, Sea Spray has outstanding turf quality, a bright blue-green color, and a beautiful, uniform appearance. Ideal for temperate to hot, humid coastal climates, Sea Spray also affords excellent drought tolerance and good shade tolerance. Excellent for use on turfgrass areas irrigated with effluent water or subject to naturally high saline conditions.
