Moonlight Species: Kentucky bluegrass This low-mow bluegrass has a compact, spreading, moderately aggressive growth habit. Its medium leaf texture produces very uniform and dense turf with a dark blue-green color. Moonlight performs well in a wide range of well-drained soils with a pH range of 5.5–7.5, and it has good performance in areas with moderate salinity as well as very good drought tolerance in comparison to other bluegrasses. It also has excellent overall disease resistance, including leaf spot, powdery mildew, necrotic ring spot, stripe smut, and stripe rust, as well as good billbug resistance. With its one-of-a-kind dark blue-green color and its stand-alone performance, Moonlight is comparable to the “Midnight” types of Kentucky bluegrass and will improve the performance of any bluegrass blend. It grows well in full sun and has above-average shade performance—expect excellent performance in both cool-humid and cool-arid zones. It is also an excellent performer at low-to-high rates of Nitrogen. It can be mowed to as low as 0.5”–1.0” and blends well with other elite bluegrasses such as Midnight II, Midnight Star, North Star, and Brilliant. View Product's Tech Sheet
